Backing Black Belonging asks "Where do we belong?" From the neighborhoods we live in to the spaces we occupy daily, place and location play a critical role in shaping belonging. At this event you'll explore the intersection of belonging and place, examining the many ways these two concepts are interwoven. Part concert, part reflection- this site-specific tapestry of song and text, will draw inspiration from each artist's own personal reconciliation with the concept of belonging. Inspired by and against the backdrop of Vizcaya, we’ll examine the complexity of belonging, shaped by place, community, visibility, and likeness.

This hour-long program will take place in the Courtyard of Vizcaya's Main House against the backdrop of a mesmerizing full moon rising over Biscayne Bay. It features Hued Songs year-round concert series, Backing Black Belonging, a celebration of Black creativity, innovation, and artistry that imbues Black music within unexpected places.
